Do You Have To Use A Graham Cracker Crust?

No! A classic store-bought pie crust will work, but these substitutes would also make a great crust for pumpkin cheesecake or even a pecan pie. These substitute 1 for 1. In other words, if the recipe calls for 1½ cups of graham crackers, then use crumbles of 1½ cups of these:

  • Gingersnaps
  • Vanilla Wafers
  • Biscoff Cookies
  • Crushed Pretzels

How Long Does Cheesecake Last Out of The Fridge?

Delectable Pumpkin Cheese Cakes

It’s best to keep cheesecakes in the fridge. You can leave them at a dessert table or counter safely for about 2 hours. Beyond this, the filling will begin to warm, become soft, and sweat. This will not change the flavor, but the creamy smoothness will be lost.

Any cheesecake, no matter the flavor, will keep in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. And while it is in the fridge, it is best kept in a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. Beyond this, it is best kept in the freezer.

A plastic wrap will work too, but it should be wrapped with several layers, or it can take on smells of other things in the fridge.

Can Pumpkin Cheesecake Be Frozen?

Yes! And this is the way I’d recommend if you don’t plan on eating it within a couple of days.

It will stay fresh in the freezer for up to 2 months. But it will need to be in an airtight container. Cheesecake can be frozen whole or in individual slices.

The important thing is to make sure it is airtight.

How to Freeze Individual Slices

  1. Slice a chilled cheesecake into individual slices and put them on a cookie sheet covered with parchment or wax paper. Put the cookie sheet in the freezer and leave them uncovered until frozen for about 2 hours.
  2. Once frozen, wrap each slice with 2-4 layers of tightly wrapped plastic wrap. And then, put the slices in an airtight container.
  3. Put it back in the freezer. They will last for up to 3 months.

Is Baking Cheesecake in a Water Bath Necessary?

Before I answer this question, you may need to know that water bathing a cheesecake differs greatly from water bath canning.

The term water bath in baking refers to baking inside a pan of hot water.

Water Bathing keeps the filling moist, helps prevent cracking, and makes for a smooth, creamy filling. This is the secret to a smooth, rich cheesecake. You can bake one without this technique, though.

Baking Tools – make Baking Easier

Though baking cheesecake is easy, I would suggest some helpful kitchen tools to make it even easier.

1 Springform Pan – This pan is a must. It is spring lever controlled to release your cheesecake since it cannot be turned upside down. These pans have removable bottoms and sides. It’s held together with a spring-loaded clip. Release the clip, and it releases from your cheesecake.

2 Hand Mixer – To ensure a smooth filling, a hand mixer will blend the ingredients well. I don’t recommend hand mixing. A hand mixer will make for a creamy smooth well, blended filling better than a mixer.

3 Tamper Tool – This tool has many uses in the kitchen, such as making sauerkraut, and is perfect for crushing crackers for your crust or using a food processor (I have and use this one).

4 Mixing Bowls – Different size mixing bowls make for easier blending of the ingredients. For example, I use two and sometimes three for making cheesecake and other dishes.

5 Deep Baking Pan for Water Bath – Water bathing is the secret to a creamy cheesecake, and this pan is perfect. You can use it in many different ways in the kitchen.
