Grow Food. Live Simply. Be Inspired.
My name is Dianne. I live a nearly self-reliant lifestyle with my husband in Charleston, TN. We grow and preserve much of our food, make most of our cleaning supplies and with careful planning, working on paying off and acquiring no debt; we are on our way to self-reliance. Hidden Springs Homestead was created as a result of a dream that was kept inside me for many years. Growing up on a 5 acre homestead, it had always been inside me. I married a wonderful man that had been raised in the city and wanted nothing to do with homesteading, but after 25 years of marriage, job losses, working hard and never getting ahead, and traveling some really hard roads together, he was finally bitten by the homestead bug. So our new journey began in the winter of 2015.
Homesteading is a way of life, a way to live off the land that you have, live within your means and not acquiring additional debt to do so. We live on 1 ½ acres. Our dream is growing slowly but with careful planning, hard work, and goal setting, it is moving along. I dream of rain barrels, a small barn, complete with goats, chickens and maybe even a milk cow and someday, a store front to sell my handmade goodies in, right here on our homestead.
Our goal is to become self-reliant, the work is not easy, but it will be worth it. My mission with Hidden Springs Homestead is to teach new as well as traditional methods of homesteading, share ideas, provide tips, tutorials and instruction on how to create a successful homestead, and to share our failures as well as our accomplishments with all, in an effort to encourage you to follow your dreams. Come join us on our journey!
